I love reading about the Apostle Paul in the Book of Acts. He was so bold and purposeful in his witness for Christ. In Acts 24:24-25, before Felix, he was speaking about “faith in Christ Jesus…he was discussing righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come.” Lord, there are several things that he is talking about that I need to be living and prepared with as I share my faith with others…
- Faith in Christ Jesus
- Righteousness
- Self-control
- The judgment to come
As Paul is sharing his testimony with King Agrippa in Acts 26:17-18, he said that he was being sent to the Gentiles to “open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.”
Here are some more things to stay focused on in sharing the Gospel with those who are lost…
- Praying for their eyes to be opened
- That they would turn from darkness to light
- Turn from Satan’s dominion to God’s dominion
- Receive the forgiveness of sins
- Receive an inheritance among those who have been sanctified in Jesus Christ
When King Agrippa told Paul in Acts 26:28 that “In a short time you will persuade me to become a Christian,” I see Paul’s passion to see others come to faith in Christ when he said, “I would wish to God, that whether in a short or long time, not only you, but also all who hear me this day, might become such as I am, except for these chains.” May I have this same passion for God and for others.
Paul’s passion is further seen in 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 when he said, “We are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf or Christ, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
What an incredible abiding passion! What forgiveness and cleansing! What a God! What a responsibility!
When Paul is taken to Rome and was given lodging for his stay while he was appealing to Caesar, people came to his place in large numbers, and Paul was “testifying about the kingdom of God and trying to persuade them concerning Jesus…from morning to evening” (Acts 28:23).
God, may I be just as passionate and purposeful in preaching and sharing Christ in my world. Grant me many open doors to proclaim the Gospel to as many people as possible to expand Your kingdom. I love you Father God, and give thanks and praise for who You are and all You have done. I look forward with faith and anticipation of You living and working through me to Your glory and honor!
