We took a group of students from 5 different schools to Ft. Worth for a weekend of evangelism and discipleship. We exposed them to as much as possible to expand their vision for the kingdom of God. We saw sin at its worst and God at His best.

The role of an evangelist is not only to evangelize, but to equip and train others in evangelism. When one student asked Roy Fish what one of the most important things she could do in her Christian life, without hesitation he said, "Develop a Word-centered life."

I’ve heard it said that “more is caught than taught.” In equipping others in evangelism, this is so true! One reason for taking students on mission trips is not only to see people come to faith in Christ, but to equip believers by experience in the service of evangelism.

This trip was an amazing eye opening experience. One student said, " God stretched me in so many ways and revealed things that were taking the place of my heavenly Father."

We were invited to speak at a Campus Minister’s Networking Conference in Nigeria. We also had the opportunity to preach the Gospel in area villages. Brian Radabaugh, Youth Pastor at CrossRoads Baptist Church and one of his students, Adam Martin, joined me on this trip.

So many things happened, so many people, so many memories. I even got a new name . . . in the first city we were in, I was dubbed “Pastor Muchila” which in Portuguese means “Pastor Backpack” or the “Backpack Pastor.” My backpack became my trademark wherever I went. God brought together in my heart and mind many of the things that I have experienced on previous foreign trips to Brazil, Nigeria and Argentina.

While in Rio de Janeiro, we reconnected with three families, two from seminar over 20 years ago and one from Big Spring, that we knew from the States but hadn’t seen in years. These relationships offer wonderful opportunities for future ministry. We knew the Sprowls from Big Spring. They recently purchased property and buildings in two different states in Brazil with a vision of training students for evangelism.
